Wuthering Waves releases today

Ready for another adventure? Developer Kuro Games’ ‘Wuthering Waves’ releases today May 23, 2024. An open world free-to-play gacha game with an emphasis on combat, Wurthering Waves is looking to be one of most anticipated releases with over 30 million pre registrations, according to its official website.

On a world called Solaris-3, a disasterous event called The Lament and it’s Waveworn Phenomenon has wiped out most of humanity and unleashed monsters through the world. Resonators are humans enhanced with particles called Wutheron and resonate with certain objects and manipulate their frequencies are the only ones who can combat these creatures. You play as an amnesiac called Rover (either Male or Female and is renamable), a multi-attribute Resonator, embarking on a journey to uncover the secrets of the world.

Billing itself as an open-world action RPG, Wurthering Waves looks to be setting itself apart from other games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail with faster-pace action and fluid combat mechanics. There’s a heavy emphasis on basic light and heavy attack combos, evasion and parries, and switch-in skills from other characters. All of this creates a game that’s more like a character action games and all those the gorgeous animations Kuro Games have made really impress during gameplay.

The game is a gacha with a variety of banners called ‘Convene’ to gain Resonators and Weapons. The in-game currency is called ‘Astrites’ and the gacha currency are ‘Tides’, either Lustrous, Radiant Tide, or Forging. ‘Oscillate Corals’ and ‘Afterglow Corals’ are gained from rolling on the Convenes and is used to purchase resources for upgrades. Microtransactions are expected for this kind of game and the bundles for Lunite are:
