Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 “Bury Your Tears with the Past” will launch on April 23, serving as the Season 1 finale for its story. The game has also revealed details on the release on the Xbox Platforms, as well as the upcoming 2.0 update.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 will see two new S-Rank Agents from the Mockingbird faction.
Phase 1 will see Vivian, an Ether Anomaly Agent, who dances across the battlefield with a parasol and rapier, seamlessly shifting between grounded and aerial attacks. Her Basic Attack: Featherbloom amplifies Anomaly damage and synergizes with allies’ EX Special Attacks to boost the team’s Corruption damage. Additionally, S-Rank Physical Anomaly Agent, Jane Doe will have her banner rerun.
Phase 2 will see Hugo, an Ice Attack Agent, wields a suitcase that transforms into a sharp scythe, carving through enemies with slashes and devastating area sweeps. When hitting stunned enemies, Hugo can trigger the Totalize effect, elevating his damage based on the enemies’ remaining stun duration. Joining them is Robin, Mockingbird’s agile Bangboo companion, who pelts enemies with randomized cards that have various effects. Additionally, the S-Rank Fire Stun Agent Lighter will rerun in this version’s banners.
Beyond the battlefield, Version 1.7 invites Proxies to unwind or embrace new challenges through in-game events. “Say It With Flowers,” players step into the role of a flower shop manager, crafting gorgeous floral arrangements for different clients. By completing floral design commissions, Proxies will unlock a permanent interactive floral arrangement gameplay for Quality Time mode and receive exclusive rewards, including A-Rank Bangboo Overtimeboo. For thrill-seekers, the adrenaline-fueled Bangboo Bash returns with a ranked mode. Proxies can compete in obstacle and survival courses, earning points based on match placement and rank. Those who ascend the leaderboards can claim exclusive event titles, Polychromes, and other rewards.
A New Home on the Xbox
Zenless Zone Zero will officially launch on Xbox alongside its Version 2.0 update this June. In addition to Xbox Series X|S, Zenless Zone Zero will also be available via Xbox Cloud Gaming, enabling Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play the game seamlessly across devices without downloads.
Powered by the enhanced GPU performance of Xbox Series X|S, Zenless Zone Zero not only presents superior visual effects with support for the consoles’ DirectX RayTracing and HDR, but also supports native 4K resolution at a stable 60 FPS performance. Meanwhile, with the exclusive “Quick Resume” feature on Xbox Series X|S, players can switch between multiple active games without lengthy loading times.
In addition to visual and performance enhancements, Zenless Zone Zero will also introduce fine-tuned Xbox controller optimizations, incorporating customized vibration feedback to heighten the immersion and impact during combat. Moreover, Zenless Zone Zero will fully support cross-progression and flexible server selection on different platforms for Xbox players. With the game’s launch on Xbox Cloud Gaming, Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to enjoy the game without having to download it or own an Xbox console.
The Road to Version 2.0
Lastly, Version 2.0, players will start a brand-new chapter of their story at a unique area called Waifei Peninsula, where urban life and Hollow exploration closely intertwine, bringing a more cohesive and immersive narrative experience. Alongside it is the Failum Heights, a cliffside city with scenic views and a high concentration of Porcelume, a valuable material that resists Ether Corruption. The major character revealed for the update is Yixuan, the current head of Yunkui Summit. Additionally, new factions such as the idol-themed, Angels of Delusion, were teased in the Dev Talk.
One of the latest overhauls in 2.0 discussed during the Dev Talk is in regards to exploration. The devs aims to create larger maps and to integrate residential and combat areas together for a more seemless experience, reducing the need for the munu-based fast travel seen currently. The devs also aims to address concerns about Power-Creep and the dominance of Attack-based characters in the roster in version 2.0 with various updates, adjustments, and overhauls to older character and mechanics. Lastly, more meaningful relationships between proxies and the agents were discussed, hinting at future development in the Quality Time features. The ultimate goal for the devs is still about bringing a fulfilling and fun experience for all players.
With all these updates, Zenless Zone Zero looks to charging ahead as it almost enters it’s one-year anniversary.
