    The Description from Nintendo.

In Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, a student has been found dead in a chilling fashion, his head covered with a paper bag with an eerie smiling face drawn on it. This unsettling visage bears a striking resemblance to a recurring clue in a string of unsolved murders from 18 years ago,as well as Emio (the Smiling Man), a killer of urban legend who is said to grant his victims “a smile that will last forever.”

Play the role of an assistant private investigator with Utsugi Detective Agency, where you are tasked with helping police solve this crime. Along the way, scrutinize the clues and testimonies you gather for potential connections to the gruesome events of the past.

    On the Case

Original series producer and writer Yoshio Sakamoto returns to this new installment in the Famicom Detective Club franchise. “Emio The Smiling Man is the culmination of everything my most trusted colleagues and I have learned and the ideas we’ve accumulated from working on the previous games and their remakes,” said Sakamoto.

The Famicom Detective Club franchise has been a cult hit since its original release way back in the original Famicom in 1988. Their point-and-click adventure gameplay and spooky mystery gave gamers a lot of intrigue back in 8-bit era. The games were remade in 2021 on the Nintendo Switch by Mages as: Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind. The style of the new game appears to be taken from the remakes. Having greatly enjoyed the remakes of Famicom Detective Club, this newest installment looks to be bringing us into darker territory. Expect a gripping mystery, twists and turns galore, and an ending that will have you talking for ages!

Investigate Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club as it’s now open for Pre-Orders in the Nintendo eShop.
